Exhaust Manifold Replacement Services

Manifold RepairThe exhaust system in your vehicle is responsible for collecting gases created by your engine during the combustion process. These gases are channeled into a catalytic converter where they are reduced to less harmful elements and then expelled into the environment safely away from the vehicle’s occupants. In this process, the manifold is responsible for collecting the harmful emissions produced by the engine. The exhaust manifold is the first component in the exhaust system, and gathers these gases as they leave the engine, channeling and directing them into the downpipe where they can pass to the catalytic converter. The manifold is secured in place atop a manifold gasket, which is typically made of rubber. Often, the gasket is the first component to fail, and simply replacing the gasket can return your exhaust system to working order. Within the exhaust manifold, there is an oxygen sensor, which is responsible for monitoring the amount of oxygen present in the fuel and air mixture created during the engine’s combustion process. The oxygen sensor sends this information to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) which makes adjustments accordingly. After the leftover exhaust gases are collected in the manifold, the exhaust manifold then funnels these gases throughout the rest of the exhaust system. Over time and with regular use, the cycle of heating and cooling that naturally occurs as a product of exhausting gases can cause your manifold to degrade. With time, this will lead to failure, which is why routine inspections of your exhaust system can find problems early, allowing you the opportunity to replace components before they fail completely or cause further damage.
